Ostendorf (1871-1915) wrote extensively on the traditional crafts and skills of medieval architecture. He designed university and other public buildings. Stylistically he was close to the ideas of Schulze-Naumburg and Schmitthenner, seeing architecture as mainly an expression of organic and natural rules.
