Description: Frontis, xv, 268pp incl 441 figs, large bibliog. Gilt lettered cloth. 30x23. Spine a little dull, else a nice bright copy of a scarce book (often in poor condition, if found at all).
Notes: Weaver’s first book and a typically high-class example of Batsford’s architectural book production in this era. The 195 thoughtful illustrations are an especially valuable feature with examples taken from all periods. The book is mainly divided by usage: cisterns, leaded steeples, lanterns, pipeheads etc. There is also a section on modern leadwork. The period saw something of a revival in the use of lead. Weaver was architectural editor of Country life. Uncommon.
