Description: viii + 2 tissue-guarded engraved portrait plates (of J. F. Bateman in 1884 and 1854), 291pp, iv, 57 engraved plates (a few coloured) of maps, plans, measured drawings of details etc (mostly on fold-outs or double page). Cloth, gilt lettered leather spine and corners. Marbled edges. 32x26. Cloth scuffed, first gathering (prelims, title etc) and a few of the plates loose. Condition generally good with the plates clean and fresh.
Notes: Magisterial account of these great Victorian projects, mainly reservoirs and associated structures, culminating with material on the projected Thirlemere Reservoir and map of the route of this to Manchester.
