A Plan for Bath.

Notes: The 1945 Bath reconstruction plan, typically elaborate, with fine maps, plans, photos etc. The city had suffered a nasty bombing raid in April, 1942, but the Georgians had built well and the city, though bruised, was largely intact. Abercrombie seeks to restore Bath’s Georgian integrity by removing much of the Victorian bye-law housing. The Spa should be re-established and there should be a new inner ring road, shopping area, ‘traffic islands’ etc. New housing was also an urgent neccesity. One of the rarer reconstruction plans.
